usar hulacoder tm ur7hcdmp matur e mousecoder tm pr oduct specifications usar datasheet doc7-dmp-ds-102 5 usar systems, inc. ps/2 mode commands, cont the usar hulacoder tm will r espond to the s et sampling rate command (f3h) in both str eam and pr ompt modes, but will only update its inter nal status if the command is enacted while the device is in str eam mode the ur7hcdmp r esponds to the the read device t ype command (f2h) immediately after the acknowledge with a 00h. the set pr ompt (remote) mode command (f0h) sets the device to pr ompt mode. data values ar e then only r epor ted in r esponse to a read repor t command (ebh). if the set echo mode command (eeh) is enacted, the usar hulacoder tm will immediately r etur n any data bytes except ff or ec. the reset echo mode command (ech) r etur ns the device to its pr evious mode - disabled. if this command occurs while the ur7hcdmp is in either str eam or pr ompt modes, the command is ignor ed. the read repor t command (ebh) pr ompts the usar hulacoder tm for a r epor t. the r epor t occurs even if the device did not move or if the status of the switches did not change. the r epor t is sent by the ur7hcdmp following an acknowledge. the set incr emental str eam mode command (eah) sets the usar hulacoder tm to str eam mode and disables the device. sequential commands unlike nor mal commands, sequential commands must be enacted with a sequence of commands. if the sequence is not consecutive or is incor r ect, the usar hulacoder tm abor ts the detection and r esponds the way it would nor mally r espond to a command. the individual commands that comprise a sequential command have been designed so that the elements of a sequential command can be sent to the usar hulacoder tm via the standar d ibm ps/2 bios calls and the device only r etur ns a valid r esponse to the standar d status request. this ensur es that, if the sequential command is sent via the bios, the status r esponse will be accurately r etur ned even if the bios does er r or detection. thus, a pr ogrammer can have complete contr ol of the mouse without having to access the device har dwar e por t dir ectly . the usar hulacoder tm implements a special sequential command that can be used to deter mine its ability to r epor t thr ee buttons. the sequential command is a series of commands to the usar hulacoder tm that cause the device to r espond to the last command (read status) with alter nate infor mation. sequence of commands: 1. set resolution = one count/ mm dir ect: e8h,00h bios: int15h, ax=c203h, bx=0 2. set scaling = 1:1 dir ect: e6h bios: int15h, ax=c206h, bx=1 3. set scaling = 1:1 dir ect: e6h bios: int15h, ax=c206h, bx=1 4. set scaling = 1:1 dir ect: e6h bios: int15h, ax=c206h, bx=1 5. read status dir ect: e9h bios: int15h, ax=c206h, bx=0 the r esponse to the read status command is in the for m: byte 1: standar d status infor mation (buttons, scaling, etc.) byte 2: number of mouse buttons (3)
